The Green Shield Competition is noted as probably one of the toughest U16 cricket competitions in the cricketing world. Many players (and Clubs) are looking to the Green Shield competition to launch their cricket into the lower grades of Sydney Club cricket and beyond. NSW state teams are selected from the Sydney grade Clubs such as the Mosman Cricket Club.
Mosman Cricket Club is over 100 years old and has produced a number of Australian Test and One Day International players, including two Australian Test captains. We look to the Mosman Green Shield players as potential players for the Mosman Cricket Club grade teams and beyond.
Green Shield is a very physically demanding competition, with the first three ‘60 over one day games’ played in 5 days before Christmas, and the next 3 games played in 5 days after New Year. Players physical fitness will be tested in these conditions. In the past two seasons Mosman have needed 17 players over the seven rounds of Green Shield games. Managing players training and playing regimes will be a discussion the Mosman Green Shield team management will be having with all squad members.
