After years of fundraising and months of detailed planning, our major project to completely rebuild the all weather nets at Balmoral is off and running.
The old nets had reached the stage where they needed a major refurbishment, and we struggled with capacity to give all players in our 30+ junior teams the access to practice that is essential to develop as a cricketer.
So our Junior Development Committee painstakingly worked through all the challenges of development approvals to come up with a wonderful new 9 wicket complex, delivering a significant improvement in quality and quantity of cricket practice facilities at Balmoral Oval.
Mosman Council have provided good support, but the project is mainly being paid for through fund raising from the Mosman Community. We are working with all levels of government and with Cricket NSW to apply for any grants to reduce the cost burden, but we will still have a sizeable short fall to fund ourselves. (Hint - we need your help!)
Over the past 3 weeks , the old nets and old concrete base have all been removed, and the new square is now marked out, ready for the concrete pour over the next few days.
With some help from the weather, we are aiming for the new nets to be ready to go before the start of the season in September!
Watch out for further updates over the next few weeks.
